Our History

iCyt Visionary Bioscience, Inc., and its sister company, iCyt Mission Technology, Inc., are premier providers of cytometry and related life science solutions. Solid state laser systems, custom instrumentation, and clinical flow lab software are all examples of the comprehensive applications being delivered to our customers throughout the world.

At our roots, we are an engineering and design consulting company formed as an evolutionary outgrowth of the engineering consulting practice of Gary Durack. The companies were founded in 1995 under the name Cytometry Services Inc. in the State of Illinois.

From 1995 until 1999, CSI operated as a part-time venture out of a home office. In 2000, CSI began an instrument development project for a major flow cytometry vendor and subsequently moved into 800 sq. ft. facility in the Technology Commercialization Laboratory (TCL) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. CSI also hired its first full-time employees at that time.

In 2001, the company experienced significant expansion of its client base and entered an agreement for its proprietary software with Beckman Coulter Inc. In early 2002, Cytometry Services, Inc. changed its name to iCyt Visionary Bioscience, Inc. and relocated to the University of Illinois Research Park.

Throughout 2002 and 2003, the Company experienced rapid growth, expanding its facilities to 9,000 square feet and employing over 20 professionals in engineering, life science and business disciplines.

In 2005, iCyt took a major step forward moving into the newest facility in the University of Illinois Research Park. The “iCyt building” is a 43,000 square foot building featuring state of the art design. The iCyt companies now occupy over one-quarter of the building, with a full complement of laboratories, manufacturing facilities, and offices. Expansion plans already on the drawing board which will increase iCyt’s occupancy in early 2006. The companies now employ over 35 professionals.
